I want to say, I absolutely love the BareBones Bestiary cover art. It's brilliant. Eric Quigley did it again.
I wanted to share some of my favorite and least favorite submissions in the BareBones Wiki Bestiary based on categories and would like to hear others' favorites and least favorites. This is just a discussion. I am not the judge.
Favorite monster: Hound of Chronos, Copper Cat is a close second
Favorite name: Malevolent Menhir
Favorite Concept: Apotheocyst (I love abstract horrors)
Favorite Appearance: Wyrd
Favorite Ability: blood curdling shriek (Floating Skull)
Favorite Ability Name: Potent Posies (Twigling, Elder)
Favorite Description: Wicked Orphan ("Diabolical street urchins." Classic!)
Favorite Gimmick: Bag of Teeth
Deadliest: Soul Knight, Saurial is a close second
Funniest: Swapper
Scariest: Creeping death
Most Unique: Slime Dancer
Most Playable as a PC Race: Wicked Orphan
Least appropriate name: Bubble (I'd prefer "Stun bubble" or "Skud bubble".) and Snailtaur ("taur" means "bull", not half-man.)
Least descriptive: Arcane Leach
Longest description (Needs editing): Creeping death
Least useful: Twigling
Most in need of work: Wandering Hole
Suggestions:
» Since "Copper cat" isn't always a cat, I recommend making it a combined word, "Coppercat".
» Remove the urban requirement from Miasmic Cloud.
» Rakshasa's Lunar Enhancement should say, "+10 to other special abilities in presence of even faintest moonlight."
For those who don't know, the man-scorpion on the cover of the book made its debut in the pages of the Star Frontiersman.
Feel free to discuss anything regarding the upcoming publication and the BareBones Wiki Bestiary.
BareBones Fantasy RPG is not associated with Skaldcrow Games' Bare Bones Multiverse, despite similar names. Check out Glenn's products by clicking here.
I second the thoughts on the cover. THAT is a terrific cover!
I would have posted this comment on the announcement page (where it says add a comment) but there was no submit button.
