Wow. This game already has an extensive showing on Google searches.

BareBones Fantasy RPG is not associated with Skaldcrow Games' Bare Bones Multiverse, despite similar names. Check out Glenn's products by clicking here.
Yup, quite simply, BareBones Fantasy is a very good rpg.
One thing though, I really dislike the name.
It feels like it was just tacked on so the game could get released. I know this wasn't the case, and it was a conscious design decision, made to reflect the utiliy of the game. But still, the name doesn't do the game justice.
Perhaps the name should be changed to something like 'Chronicles of Keranak'. Or something.
I like Chronicles of Keranak, but I believe "BareBones Fantasy" has longevity and a future to look back on nostalgically as well as forever current, the way the name "Dungeons & Dragons" has always felt. Though, granted, when verbalized, instead of written, it has a unfortunate erotic tone. :P

I much prefer BareBones. I'm not running my game in Keranak, I'm running it in the Warhammer world.
This right here. I won't be using Keranak either, preferring my own setting. So I don't think it wise to brand the game as connected to a single house setting.
Same for me. Even if I use Keranak as my global map all the places will most likely be made up of supplements created for other fantasy games that I just drop in. The setting lacks detail to such a degree that whatever I create can easily be considered a homebrew setting. Only reason I'm considering using Keranak right now is because it has a decent world map all ready to go =P
One of our core beliefs is separating the game mechanics from the setting. The setting was designed to allow GM's to flex their creative muscles. The game wouldn't feel complete without it, imo. Adventure modules, flash fiction and the Chronicles of Keranak will detail the setting.
Hey, that sounds all business!
If anyone would like to publish their setting to be used with BBF or re-package with d00 Lite under DwD, ping Bill or I. :-)
Ok lumbering it with a setting name was a bad idea, but still.
It's no big deal though, and now that you've explained the reason for the name, it makes a lot of sense.
This lazy GM is considering using the 'Pirate's Guide to Freeport' hardback. It's been gathering dust for about two years. Time to take it down off the shelf!
