Raise your dice hand high!

I'm just trying to follow the character creation example in the beginning of the book.

According to the text, the halfling has:

STR 51

DEX 70 (which is 60+10 for his halfling bonus)

LOG 72

WILL 56

And for Warrior:

Warrior has two scores. Melee Warrior score equals half STR +10 per warrior level. Ranged Warrior score equals half DEX +10 per warrior level

Then the example, on Page 6 of the PDF, when calculating the Warrior skill scores, it lists the following:

calculates Melee as 28% and Ranged as 30%.

If you follow the criteria for these two values, it should be Melee=1/2 STR+10 and Ranged=1/2 DEX+10, which in the halflings case should be Melee=51/2+10=36%(rounding up) and Ranged=70/2+10=45%.

Please clarify.

Thanks,

Furio

Ranged DEX /2 + any levels.

Your DEX is 80 (70+10), so your Ranged is 40.

STR is 51 so Melee is 26(round up).

Now, and I wasn't clear if you meant this. IF you added a Level to Warrior then each melee and ranged would get an additional 10%

So Melee 36% and Ranged 50%

If Warrior was also a Secondary skill: Melee 46%, Ranged 60%

If Warrior was a Primary skill: Melee 56% and Ranged 70%

Hope that helps.

The example has the halfling with a DEX=70 total, so based on your comments above, and to correct my first post, this should be:

Ranged=DEX/2+0 = 70/2 = 35% (the PDF example is showing 30%)

Melee=STR/2 +0 = 51/2 = 26% (the PDF example is showing 28%)

(since he has no levels in Warrior, he gets no additional bonuses)

So I follow the bonuses now based on your feedback for levels and Primary/Secondary, but the numbers in the PDF example are not lining up with what I would have expected in my calculation above.

Please clarify.

Furio,

Good catch on pg 6, "28% for his melee Warrior score and 30% for his ranged Warrior score." It should read, "

26% for his melee Warrior score and 35% for his ranged Warrior score."If you look at Step 8 on pg 6 the scores are correct, "His weapon score is

35 with his shortbow(70/2),26 with the dagger(51/2) and hisunarmed score is 26(51/2). If John wants his halfling to get into a lot of fights, the next time he earns DP he should consider spending them on the Warrior skill!"The halfling did not take a level in Warrior, therefor he is unskilled. I trust this clear things up and we'll update the book.

Thanks Larry, yes, this clears it up. As you note, the numbers on Step 8, pg. 6, the numbers also didn't jive with the example, so now it all lines up and is clear.

Thanks,

Furio
