The Moongate Dossier

Moongate is the codename for the training center of SECTOR, and its location is a closely kept secret. It’s a fitting name; there’s a circular opening adorning the wall surrounding the grounds. It is decorative and functional, located near a peaceful Zen garden, and has been used as the meeting place for many young agents-in-training looking to socialize or speak in secret. One of those young agents was R.W. Anthony.

Most agents know Director Anthony from the large portrait hanging on the wall in the Moongate library. But few agents know the contributions he made to the training center’s curriculum. Before Director Anthony’s administration, new agents were permanently assigned as a team. These rookie teams would be given less dangerous missions with lower stakes, while advanced agents would carry the bulk of the burden of protecting people from the dangers of the world. These rookie teams would often fail, or would be killed outright by mistakes they made.

Director Anthony hated being the one at funerals handing folded flags to widows, widowers, and orphans. He was sure there was a better way. Eventually, in a report submitted to and codified by SECTOR high command (the “Moongate Dossier”), SECTOR training and deployment methods became the gold standard for agent training and preparedness, admired by the greater intelligence community.

Today, after basic training, new agents are assigned to a Handler, who manages their early career. They are paired up with teams situationally, based on availability, their growing skillsets, and what experiences their Handler wants each to gain. They help as skilled backup or to fill a niche a team lacks for a specific mission. Each year a rookie’s accomplishments and skills are evaluated until they are eventually promoted to full operative status.

Player’s operatives built using the rules created in this book will be a cut above those designed in the core rulebook alone. These rules are also compatible with the Shadow Directorate supplement, and the three books together can be used to make operatives truly ready for whatever the GM throws at them!
